Located in Douglas, Alaska, right across the way from Juneau, is a lovely little trail that will take you through the Tongass National Forest. This hike slips you between towering pine trees and rising mists.
This trail is very easy.
It’s wide and well-groomed. The entire length of the trail, until you hit Treadwell Ditch Trail, is only 1.5 miles, out and back.
The elevation gain is low.
You’ll only climb 291 feet throughout the entirety of the hike. This makes it perfect for beginners, and it’s nice enough to push an outdoor stroller along the way.
The trail can be used in all sorts of ways.
In fact, you’ll find mountain bikers, trail runners, and more along the trail. Keep to the right if you’re walking, and if you’re soaking in the views, be sure to step to the side.

Don’t drive past the gate, because it can be closed and locked at any time. You’re safer parking where you can outside.
