Travel To The Big Apple Without Ever Leaving Alaska At The New York Cafe
Ketchikan, Alaska, has many amazing restaurants, but the New York Cafe stands out for its amazing food and fun atmosphere. This cafe offers a fabulous neighborhood vibe and a great selection of food. Located right in downtown Ketchikan, its easy to find and close to all the action!
When you walk in, you'll notice the cafe has an intimate feel that invites you to stay awhile.
You'll quickly see why they call themselves "Ketchikan's neighborhood restaurant." They offer a wide variety of cuisines and meals, and since they're open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, you'll find something wonderful no matter the time of day.
The atmosphere is warm and inviting.
With wooden chairs and a funky tiled floor, the interior speaks of old New York. But the artwork shows off the talented Alaskan artists this state has to offer.
They have a delicious menu filled with specialties for each time of day.
For breakfast you can enjoy sweet Nutella stuffed French Toast, or savory Mushroom Toast, among other mouth-watering options. They have egg options with a twist, like smoked salmon and eggs, or the traditional Arab-style breakfast called Shakshuka, which is eggs poached in cumin-scented tomatoes, onions and peppers.
For dinner you can find appetizing dishes like their Pork Shank.
Braised with fennel, thyme, and white wine, it's also accompanied by a Shiitake and oyster mushroom risotto. Or try any of their wild Alaskan seafood, including halibut, salmon, cod, or scallops, among others.
You can order both beer and wine at this restaurant.
You can find Alaskan micro-breweries on draft here, featuring some of the fun beers and ciders that Alaska is known for. They also have a beautiful wine list if you'd rather have a glass of wine with your meal.
Whether you're dining on their Jambalaya entree, or grabbing a quick poutine appetizer, this is the place to stop when you get hungry while exploring the area.
They even have live music some nights! With great service, delicious food, and interesting culinary creations, there's a reason why this is one of the locals' favorite restaurants in Ketchikan.
You can visit the New York Cafe year round, six days a week.
They open up each day at 7:00 a.m. On Tuesday through Thursday, and Saturdays, they close at 8:30 p.m. On Fridays they shut at 9:30 p.m., and Sundays they close early at 2:00 p.m. Mondays they are closed all day long.
