Mount Alyeska Trail combines a fantastic hike, great views, and a delicious dinner to make for the most perfect day out in Alaska!

Girdwood is a tiny town 40 miles south of Anchorage, with a fabulous restaurant community and great hiking.

Mount Alyeska has many hiking trails, and when you get to the very top of the mountain, you can enjoy the beautiful Seven Glaciers! Most of the trail is above the tree line and the views are spectacular.

The trail starts in the forest, on a nicely groomed trail.

The trail is wide and nicely curved, offering fabulous views of the area before breaking out of the tree line. You start hiking more gradually before you encounter the elevation gain.

The trail is an out and back trail that comes in at about 4.2 miles.

You hike up a steep 1,998 feet of elevation gain, with some incredible views! Above the tree line you'll be able to spot seven nearby glaciers and even the resort below.

The trail is moderate, and the switchbacks will help relieve some of the work of the elevation gain.

There's also plenty of wildlife like moose, bears, and beavers in the ponds. You'll have an incredible range of view however, so you can see them when they're still pretty far away!

Seven Glaciers is a stunning four Dimond restaurant on the top of Mount Alyeska!

Call for reservations in their restaurant with white tablecloths, stellar service, and delicious food. Or grab a drink and appetizers at their bar! No matter where you sit, you'll be delighted with the incredible views and amazing food.

You can end your hike and fabulous meal with sightseeing around the summit of the mountain.

Rest easy on those legs and take the tram down the mountain after your meal. It runs every 15 minutes and if you're only going down, the tram ride is free!

You can access the trailhead of this magnificent trail at the Alyeska Resort.

You can find Alyeska Resort at this Address: 1000 Arlberg Avenue, Girdwood, AK 99587. You can enjoy the hike up all spring, summer, and early fall, and dine in the clouds at Seven Glaciers!
