Alaska's Most Easily Accessible Waterfall Is Hiding In Plain Sight At Nugget Falls
If you’re looking for a spectacular adventure, this easily accessible waterfall in Alaska makes for a wonderful afternoon trip! Nugget Falls is a quick drive from downtown Juneau and an easy trip for everyone. This two-tiered waterfall is absolutely spectacular win person, and shouldn’t be missed.

One of our favorite spots is Mendenhall Glacier and nearby Nugget Falls. Located in the Tongass National Forest, it’s guaranteed to make an impression.

The falls drop in tiers down the mountainside and spray at a width of over 100 feet. The falls are huge and a must-see if you’re in the Juneau area.

You can complete many of them in under 45 minutes, but some people take longer and savor the views. There’s no wrong way to complete the hike, so enjoy yourself as you go along.

It’s a wide, flat, dirt and gravel trail. It’s well-maintained and easy to follow.

You can download an app that will tell you more about your hike as you go along, or you can enjoy the hike in silence and nature. The view of Mendenhall Glacier is beautiful at the foot of the falls, too.

There are plenty of sightings of bear in this area. You can check in with the Visitor’s Center before you head out to see if there’s been any bear spotting lately.

The towering falls are guaranteed to make an impression. And Mendenhall Glacier isn’t half bad, either!
