Kincaid Park is a massive, 1,500-acre park in Anchorage. It hugs the shoreline and Ted Stevens International Airport.

A former Cold War missile base, this gorgeous place is now put to good use as a multi-use park.

In the winter you’ll find cross country skiing and snowshoeing, and summer finds trails filled with cyclists, hikers, and more. There’s even a motocross park!

You can climb a giant sand dune in the park.

It’s actually the region’s largest active sand dune. And if you climb up it, you’ll have stellar views across the inlet.

The park is such a diverse area of plant and animal life.

You’ll pass through forests, meadows, and more before making your way to the beaches. You’ll see bald eagles, moose, even bears and other animals in the park. Keep aware, especially if you’re in the forested areas.

Many of the paths throughout the park are paved.

They are well maintained and offer stunning views of Cook Inlet, Denali, and more. Exploring this park can be spread out over multiple days.

There are tons of entry points to the park.

You’ll find parking lots at the main gates, as well as many side roads and small neighborhood entrances. There is no entrance fee to the park.
