Banish The Winter Darkness At The Holiday Themed Zoo Lights In Alaska
Looking to have some outdoor fun with the family this holiday season? Alaska Zoo’s holiday Zoo Lights is an annual tradition that families look forward to every year. Stroll the zoo during the evenings and be dazzled by their gorgeous light displays, beautiful scenery, and amazing animals!

Tickets are $8.00 per person ages 3 and up for a Zoo Member, or $10.00 per person ages 3 and up for a non-Zoo member. Tickets can be purchased both online and at the door.

This event is looked forward to all year long. The entire zoo dresses up in beautiful light displays that you can adore while walking through the snowy landscape.

The polar bear, Cranbeary, may not be available for viewing in person, as she is currently on maternity leave. Cameras are set up in her den, however, and you can view her on the monitors in the Coffee Shop dining room.

Many of the animals you'll see are native to Alaska, and are used to the cold temperatures. You'll pass by the majestic musk oxen, whose fur, qiviut, is one of the warmest fibers on the planet!

Make sure to dress warmly! The entire light display is outside and it can get pretty cold most nights during the winter. There are a couple of spots to warm up, but you will mostly be walking outside along the trails.

Enjoy your hot cup of cocoa from the Zoo's cafe, while you admire the lights and animals around the bonfire. It's a wonderful way to finish your evening at the Zoo.

From November 29th through January 31st they're open Thursdays through Sundays, from 5:00 p.m. through 8:00 p.m. They're closed December 25th, but hold a special "holiday run," opening nightly from December 19th through January 12th, seven days a week, from 5:00 p.m. through 8:00 p.m. Then, beginning February 1st through March 31st, the lights are open from Thursday through Sunday, 6:30 p.m. through 8:30 p.m.
