Don’t Miss This Small Town Restaurant For The Most Delicious Crab In Alaska
Alaska is without a doubt, the king of seafood. We have some of the most amazing product you’ll find in the world; delicious and sustainably harvested! If you’re in the mood for some excellent Alaska crab, head to the tiny town of Sitka, Alaska. Halibut Point Crab and Chowder is the purveyor of some of the tastiest Dungeness crab you’ll find in Alaska!
The Friske family owns and operates this fabulous little restaurant!
The best part is, they actually catch the crabs themselves! Every day during the summer crab season they catch the crab and deliver to the restaurant fresh and ready for customers to order!
The crabbing seasons are strict in Alaska, and the season doesn’t start for live crabbing until June 15th.
But after June 15th they serve the freshest crab you can get in Alaska! Prior to June 15th the crab is still incredibly delicious, and still caught by them during the winter crabbing season!
Their cool little restaurant resides right down on the docks in Sitka.
If you’re headed in on a cruise ship, you can’t miss this perfect location! Just head down the gangplank to help yourself to their delicious crab menu!
There’s plenty of seating inside the big white tent!
With large picnic tables that can seat at least six people each, if you’re lucky you won’t have to wait too long! This restaurant also has a large holding tank for the crab you’ll eat. In fact, you can pick out your live crab, and then hold it and take a picture with it before eating it!
If you’re not feeling the Dungeness crab, take a peek at their fish and chips made with fresh halibut or salmon! Or try their salmon burger or their clam chowder.
Truly, your crab meal can’t be any fresh than this!
You can find them at their Address: 4513 Halibut Point Road, Old Sitka Cruise Ship Dock, Sitka, AK 99835-9507. Their May through September hours are contingent on cruise ship docking times, so make sure to check out their website for current hours!
