Alaska Day is an event that happens annually in the town of Sitka to celebrate the purchase transfer of the Russian claim of Alaska to the U.S.A in Sitka which happened on October 18, 1867. This event also celebrates the diversity of cultures and historical perspectives of the Alaskan people. The annual parade brings the entire community together to celebrate alongside visitors that come from all over the state to celebrate this truly special event.
