Alabama is filled with many small towns, and I love the fact that so many of them are perfect for a family day trip, especially during summer. One of these small towns in particular is Bay Minette. For information about Bay Minette, including why it's one of the best places for a summer day trip in Alabama, take a look below.
Bay Minette is the county seat of Baldwin County, Alabama and is a great location for a family day trip.
One of the best places in Bay Minette to visit is Splinter Hill Bog Preserve. This bog preserve covers 637 acres and is one of the stops on the Alabama Coastal Birding Trail.
It's also home to thousands of beautiful, white-topped pitcher plants. These are carnivorous plants that you don't see every day, so you'll certainly want to make sure to include this bog preserve on your day trip itinerary.
If you're bringing children along, a visit to Bay Minette Kids Park is highly recommended. This unique playground offers everything from swings and slides, to climbing towers and special play areas for toddlers.
There's also a splash pad for the kids, which is perfect for beating the summer heat.
No day trip is complete without a great place to eat. One of the best places in Bay Minette to grab a bite to eat is Pearl & Addie's Cafe.
Pearl & Addie's Cafe is best known for their delicious down-home cooking. However, if you're not in the mood for that, the cafe also offers a variety of other items such as burgers, sandwiches, salads, and more. It's all delicious!
