This small farm nestled way out in western Montana does not raise your typical livestock. Started in 1996, Wild Rose Emu Ranch has been farming emus for almost 25 years. It’s a unique must-stop on any road trip that is equal parts entertaining and educational.

The ranch holds tours throughout the year where guests can see the emus up close and learn about how they are raised and bred.

The owners of the farm are very knowledgeable and love to share as much information as they can with those on the tour. There are about 120 emus living on the land, so visitors will have plenty of chances to observe and take photos.
Many emu-related products are sold there, including emu steaks, oil, leather, and decorated eggs.

Their emu oil is their specialty, which can be used as a moisturizer, on cuts and burns, and as a pain reliever. Many people find that it also reduces joint inflammation and scar tissue.
