The Hoosier State has a huge selection of bars to choose from. So many, in fact, that even awesome Indiana bars can start to blend together. Sometimes, the best way to stand out is to keep it underground.

That’s exactly what Down Under has done, quite literally. Located in lovely, lakeside Syracuse, Down Under Bar & Grill (aka Down Under Bar and Restaurant) is a well-known Hoosier State secret. Despite its deceptive design, this is one place in Indiana that’s not to be overlooked.

Down Under can be found, with only a slight amount of searching, at 801 N Huntington St # 12, Syracuse, IN 46567.

Down Under Bar & Grill keeps a low profile, but it doesn't do a better good job of it. Down Under is built beneath a gazebo, which, while timing, doesn't make for a very discrete hiding spot. Plus, its well-earned reputation for food and drinks make it a sought-after, if secluded, Indiana destination.

Even if Down Under may not be especially discrete, it can be easy to overlook when you're driving through town. If you're having trouble, just let the gorgeous buffalo sculpture with the hand-painted mural be your guide. It stands at the perimeter of the lot to welcome guests.

Inside, Down Under has a classic, neighborhood dive bar atmosphere. If you don't frequent dives, don't be alarmed; here, you're in for friends, not fights. Beneath the surface of this casual club are killer cocktails and surprisingly diverse dining options.
