12 Legitimate Signs That You Grew Up In New Hampshire
Identifying traits and habits of New Hampshire residents through unique cultural and lifestyle markers.
There's no place in American quite like the Granite State. From our forests to our coastline, we've got a unique landscape that's identifiable in any photos. But, what about the residents? We're part of what makes this place so great and it's not hard to see why. We're hard working, love the outdoors and crave fun and adventure. Want to make sure you can spot a New Hampshirite in the wild? Look for these signs!
1. There's a lot of flannel in your life.
Your closet is full of it, your friends are wearing it and it's a perfectly reasonable thing to wear on a date.
2. And you're proud of the fact that you did it before it was cool!
Flannel is now a hipster staple, but if you're from New Hampshire there's a good chance flannel was just what you wore.
3. You'll never forget the day the Old Man of the Mountain finally fell.
After years of being held together by all sorts of materials, including cement, the guy finally gave up. New Hampshirites were never the same.
4. Driving through snow, ice and sleet doesn't bother you.
You can drive through just about any weather thrown at you by mother nature. Snow? No problem. You've been doing it since you were 16.
5. But, despite all that snow driving you know that nothing can prepare you for a Mass driver.
You probably don't even now when it's snowing, but the minute you cross the border into Massachusetts you're filled with a sense of rage you can't explain.
6. While driving in snow isn't a problem...
...the state of the roads after a long, cold, snowy winter might be.
7. You'd rather be warm than look good.
Although, we all know that Carhartt's look incredible!
8. Your idea of cold is a lot different than those from other states.
A little snow on the ground doesn't necessarily mean it's cold. You've been to the top of Mount Washington, you know what cold really is.
9. You know all the police officers in town.
Before you get upset, we're not suggesting kids in New Hampshire are doing the wrong thing. What we ARE suggesting is that you might have been driven home by one because they knew your mom was looking for you. There's nothing like small town New Hampshire!
10. You've eaten at the Red Arrow Diner.
Not just once, but multiple times. This place is a New Hampshire institution and eating here is a sure sign that you're a local.
11. Moose cause a level of fear that people in other states just don't understand.
Those from other places think they're unique, cute animals. Those from New Hampshire know that they're the scariest thing you can possibly see in front of your car.
