If you’ve ever been away from Washington, you know that there’s no place quite like our home state here in the Northwest. After awhile you may even find that there are certain things in particular you’ll grow to miss after being gone for too long. How many of these in particular have you missed, or do you imagine you would miss if you ever left Washington?
1. Seeing Evergreen trees everywhere.
If you look around in most other places you'll find that there just isn't as much stunning green scenery as right here in Washington. They don't call us the Evergreen state for nothing!
2. Our beautiful beaches.
Let's face it - not every state is blessed enough to boast such gorgeous beaches near the ocean. And after some time away, you'll definitely start missing the salty smell of the water, squawk of the seagulls, and living by the Pacific.
3. The perfect climate.
Depending on where you move to, you might actually start to miss the weather around here. Between our state's two climate zones - with typical rain on the west of the Cascades and sunny days on the east side - you grow used to it after awhile, and it's just not the same anywhere else.
4. The best coffee in the country.
A lot of other states might consider Starbucks to be their best option, but us Washington natives will always know what the good stuff
really tastes like.
5. How laid back and friendly everyone is.
Whether you're a people person or not it's hard to deny that almost everyone in the Northwest is pretty easygoing, so it may seem strange when you move to a place where people don't seem to be as down to Earth.
6. The delectable local food...
Unless you're heading up to Alaska, you probably won't find better seafood than right here in Washington. And let's not forget the popular local chains you'll be leaving behind like Ivar's and Dick's Burgers, and of course, all of our locally grown fruit and Walla Walla sweet onions.
7. ...and the variety of craft beers to wash it down with!
You might be able to find some decent brews somewhere else besides Washington, but the selection won't even compare to all of the microbreweries and delicious craft beers that you can taste right here in our state.
8. How everyone cares about the environment.
We might not miss recycling exactly, but it can definitely remind you of home when you move away and nobody else seems to understand the importance of it or making organic food choices.
9. All of the incredible trails and hiking spots.
Sure, there may be a lot of places to go hiking in other states - but do they really have as many jaw-dropping mountainous views as us? Probably not.
10. Speaking of which, there's nothing like the mountains here in Washington.
After too much time away, you'll definitely miss our state's many breathtaking peaks - especially when the mountain's out and you can see it in the distance!
