Have you ever thought about what it would be like if there were no Oklahoma? It most likely will never happen, but if it did, what would take us out? What would cause the people to desert the land or wipe it out completely? Here are some silly (and not so silly) ways Oklahoma could be wiped off the map:
1. A dust storm could wipe out the state.
We had a glimpse of what a dust storm is capable of in the 1930s. But what if a bigger one hit the state?
2. A grasshopper infestation could destroy the land.
Oklahoma also saw an overtaking of grasshoppers during the Dust Bowl and it could happen again, similar to the plagues that struck Egypt in the Old Testament Bible story. Hoppers could descend on the land, eating entire fields and household items. Fields could be destroyed in hours and they could even eat the clothes right off your back.
3. An earthquake could send us to the belly of the earth.
Now that Oklahoma is the most seismically active place in the world, a massive quake is not far fetched. There are as many as 12 fault zones capable of triggering a magnitude 5 or 6+ earthquake. The reactivated fault lines, most likely from fracking, could cause a devastating earthquake.
4. A blood moon eclipse apocalypse could happen.
Although it didn't happen in 2015, as some predicted, there is still a chance it could happen again in 2033. So at least you have many years to prepare for this one.
5. A freakish ice storm could paralyze the state.
We could become a modern day "Frozen" if a major ice storm hits us any worse than the one in 2007. It could be catastrophic for the state.
6. If the world stops needing oil.
Our economy could crumble and wipe us out. Thousands of jobs would be lost and the repurcussions could devastate us.
7. A massive flood could destroy us all.
As we have seen before, floods can do some serious damage.
8. An end times rapture could deplete our population.
Since Oklahoma is in the "Bible Belt" it could lose a massive number of its population in the rapture.
9. A zombie apocalypse.
To keep up with pop culture, we have to add this one to the list. In case of a zombie invasion, please reference the above chart.
10. A massive tornado outbreak could devastate Oklahoma in its entirety.
Unfortunately, this one is all too true. We have the history of the largest tornado ever recorded, which means even bigger ones can happen. And as more and more weird weather patterns develop, there are more opportunities for massive tornadoes.
