The cities and towns in Southwest Montana are really something special. Surrounded by majestic mountains and lush green land, many of them look almost too postcard perfect to be real. But while some of the more populated places tend to attract the attention and tourism, the small city of Dillon remains a quiet and underrated treasure. But we’ll give you a few great reasons to visit.

In 1881 the Utah and Northern Railroad reached Dillon, and it became a point of distribution for supplies from Utah into the gold fields of Montana.

For a city of its size (around 4,300 people) there are a lot of great restaurant options here. Papa T’s (pictured here) and the Longhorn Ropers Saloon & Grill are a couple of local favorites.
There’s even an amazing 1950s garage-themed restaurant called Sparky’s Garage.
