Luckily, there are several places in the Magnolia State where you can get your hands (and mouth) on a delicious, juicy burger. From iconic eateries to unassuming holes-in-the-wall, Mississippi has a mouthwatering burger trail, and you’ll definitely want to follow.

1. Beatty Street Grocery (101 Beatty Street, Jackson)
As one of the state’s most iconic burger joints, Beatty Street Grocery is a great way to kick off your burger-inspired journey. The legendary restaurant, which is a stop on the Mississippi Culinary Trail, is known for its mouthwatering burgers. The place can get pretty crowded at lunch time, so be prepared for a (well worth it) wait.
A small town restaurant that’s big on flavor, The Blue Rooster serves some of the best hamburgers in the state, especially when it comes to the signature burger, the Flamethrower. A hamburger with kick, it’s made by placing an 8 oz. patty topped with sirloin steak, jalapenos, sautéed onions, pepper jack cheese, and ranch on a jalapeno cheddar bun.
Abe’s has been opened since 1974, making it the oldest diners on U.S. Route 72 and a Corinth landmark. Among the menu of barbecue favorites, you’ll find Abe’s "old-fashioned" burgers, which are made of 100% pure beef that’s ground fresh daily. One of the most popular choices is the Big Abe, which includes two 2 oz. patties topped with lettuce, tomato, mayonnaise, pickles, onions, and mustard. Even better are the prices; a burger and fries cost less than $5!
According to the food, drink, and travel site Thrillist, this café is home to the "Best Burger in America," otherwise known as the Smash Burger. The mouthwatering creation includes aged filet, ribeye, strip steak, sirloin, bacon, comeback sauce, melted cheddar, pickled onions, pickles and more bacon piled on a ciabatta bun, perfect for soaking up all the juices.
A local favorite, Cooley’s is a wildly popular hamburger joint, even without a website or official Facebook page. And after one bite of the eatery's made-to-order burger, you’ll understand why. Referred to as "back street burger" because of its obscure location, Cooley’s isn’t the easiest place to find but it’s definitely worth the effort.
Step inside this Ocean Springs eatery, and you’ll find a lively atmosphere and menu full of burgers with inventive toppings. The unique creations include things like the Get Me to the Greek Burger, which features a flavorful patty made from lamb and fresh ground Angus topped with balsamic mayo, feta and Swiss cheese, and Kalamata olives.
