The Annie Pfeiffer Chapel is part of Child of the Sun, the largest collection of Frank Lloyd Wright’s work in one place. The buildings are part of Florida Southern College’s campus in Lakeland.

There are several buildings designed by Wright on campus, but Annie Pfeiffer Chapel is probably the best-known design, due to its unique shape and location. It was also the first Wright building constructed for Florida Southern College, dedicated in 1941.

It’s no surprise that the chapel would have so many striking features, including Wright’s signature “textile blocks” inlaid with colorful glass pieces and a “Cherokee red” floor.

The chapel still hosts the school’s Protestant and Catholic services, but it also hosts a wide variety of campus events. Many college sweethearts also choose to get engaged or married in the chapel.

Here are a few photos of the beautiful Annie Pfeiffer Chapel, but anyone interested in touring the collection of buildings is welcome to take a tour hosted by Florida Southern College. For more information, visit flsouthern.edu.
