What could be any better than hiking through the beautiful wilderness of the Wind River and Absaroka Mountains? Correct answer: Hiking through these mountains without being loaded down with all your hiking gear.

On this unique trek, a llama does all, well... most of the work. The llama carries your pack so you can more comfortably and leisurely enjoy the world around you.

Llamas are gentle, surefooted animals that are native to the Andes Mountains in South America. These hardworking creatures are capable of carrying up to 100 lbs. for miles.

Because of this, you can travel further and deeper into backcountry territory. Here, you can enjoy the peace and quiet of fishing in a remote alpine lake, hiking, climbing and unique photographic opportunities of breathtaking scenery and wildlife.

These fun loving animals were domesticated while in South America by the Inca Native American tribes of the region. So actually, llamas are tied to the Native American culture.

There are several mountainous areas in Wyoming conducive to llamas and these treks. Some of these include the Wind River Range, the Absaroka Range, Sweetwater Canyon and Sinks Canyon.

Most llama treks consist of guided and non-guided trips. Some of the guided trips can take up to 5 days or longer.

Llamas are very social animals that like to interact with each other and humans. Just don't make one mad. They have been known to spit.

Llamas will boldly go "where few people have gone before." These unassuming animals will take you on a trip of a lifetime.

Besides, how could you resist this sweet little face?
