The Wyoming Steakhouse In The Middle Of Nowhere That’s One Of The Best On Earth
Wyoming is a state that was built by cowboys, and cowboys love their red meat. Perhaps that’s why Wyoming’s small, rural towns are destinations for many foodies who are looking for an authentic Western meal. If you’re looking for the best steaks in the state, you’ll have some distance to travel, though. Way out in Fremont County, you’ll find one of the best steakhouses in the world.
Head way out there to the tiny town of Hudson, where Svilar's Steakhouse has been serving steaks for more than 75 years.
In the early 1900s, hungry Yugoslavian miners were always looking for a place to eat, and Bessie Svilar's dining room was the place to go.
The Svilars owned a bar and pool parlor, and when Bessie started cooking, the place was booming with business. Mama Svilar served her meals as "all you can eat" feasts, and though she passed away in 1981, her family has kept up the tradition by serving enormous portions.
Today, Svilar's Bar and Dining Room has become one of the most famous destination restaurants in Wyoming, and many families will stop here for a feast on their way to through the West.
The menu includes 11 different types of steaks, and each dinner is served with salad, a side of your choice (fries, baked potato or brown rice), steamed veggies, rolls, sarma and Mama Svilar's famous ravioli.
They're famous for their enormous steaks — I don't think there's any bigger TBone in the country!
Anyone would be lucky to enjoy a meal here — everything from the filet to the ribeye is absolutely perfect.
Be sure to come hungry! This is a true cowboy's meal, and you're not going to want to leave even a scrap left on your plate!
The dinner steak is a crowd favorite, but if there's still prime rib around, you can't go wrong feasting on that either.
Svilar's is a true legend in the West, and it's well worth the drive for one of their fantastic meals.
Svilar's is located at 173 Main St., Hudson, WY 82520 and is open Tuesday through Saturday from 4:45 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. They are closed Sundays and Mondays.
