You can usually find shops that specialize in antiques almost anywhere you travel. Sometimes it's like a treasure hunt, tracking down the charming little stores filled with vintage wares. If you'd rather save your time for browsing in the shops instead of looking for them, there's one little Wyoming town you have to visit.

Laramie is filled with unique antique stores, and many of them are right downtown in the historic shopping district. Several of the best antique shops in the state are located within a few blocks of each other, making it convenient to spend a day or a few days walking from one to another. If you love antiquing, this little Wyoming town is a dream come true.

The shopping district in Laramie is tailor-made for antiquing. An antique itself, the old downtown is on the National Register of Historic Places and possesses a laid-back vibe that makes you want to take some time and enjoy the hunt for treasures through its many antique shops.

SAL's Antiques, Collectibles and Oddities, 1575 North 4th Street

Hours: Monday - Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m; Sundays 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

SAL's enjoys their reputation as a treasure hunter's dream. Their spiffy little shop is filled with unusual items you won't see at most other places. Some of those include historic pieces from trains and many homesteader household furnishings.

Aphrodite's Emporium, 312 Grand Avenue

Hours: Monday - Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturdays 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Aphrodite's is an eclectic little shop specializing in the unusual combination of tobacco products and antiques. The selection in each category is as diverse as it is delightful.

Bart's Flea Market, 2401 Soldier Springs Road

Hours: Monday - Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Sundays 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Bart's is one of the few antique stores on the list that isn't downtown, but you'll agree that it's well worth the 5 minute drive out to Soldier Springs Road. It's the largest indoor flea market in the state, and it's open year-round. You can easily spend one entire day at Bart's browsing through their huge collection of wares including a great number of antiques.

Augusta Mizzelwitt’s Back of the Wagon Antiques, 207 South 2nd Street

Hours: Monday - Saturday, 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.; closed Sundays

Back in the old town district is an amazing wonderland of a store known as Back of the Wagon. This incredible shop boasts three floors of antiques, much of it from Wyoming's Wild West days. You'll find treasures from ranching, rodeo, railroading, mining, pioneers, trappers, and cavalry as well as a selection of Indian artifacts.

The Bent and Rusty, 308 South 2nd Street

Hours: Monday - Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; closed Sundays

Previously known as the Bent and Rusty Cotton Company, this store full of reclaimed and recycled items is perfect for those who decorate in old barn wood and picture coat trees when they see weathered and rusty farm implements. It's the shop that has everything you never knew you needed.

Ruby's on Grand, 103 Grand Avenue

Hours: Monday - Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; closed Sundays

Just a block and a half over from the Bent and Rusty, you'll find Ruby's on Grand. Though it features handmade items as well as pieces by local artists, Ruby's specializes in unique vintage wares. If you're looking for a "retro find" of any kind, Ruby's is a treasure-trove for antiquers.
