Close to the top you can catch a glimpse of Bradley and Taggart Lake. Continue to follow the trail though as you make your way to Amphitheater Lake.

Follow signs for the Amphitheater Lake Trail and hike through multiple switchbacks as you climb this challenging hike.



Please keep a safe distance from wildlife. Remember, if it's a black bear fight back. Stand up tall and wave your arms to scare it away. If it's brown, lay down and play dead.

The trailhead starts at 6,741 elevation, and once you've reached the lake itself you're at 9,698, an incline of 3,000 feet.


This gorgeous glacial lake sits just below Disappointment Peak. As the story goes, early settlers hoped the slopes leading to the lake would continue to the summit of Grand Teton, but instead only found the summit of a peak they named Disappointment Peak.
