Some beautiful things are growing in a small Wisconsin town. Just outside Peshtigo, the Harmony Gardens Arboretum, is a beautiful oasis of trees, flowers, plants, and prairie. It’s a place that attracts flora lovers of all ages, and it’s worth seeking out. Here’s why Harmony Arboretum is a pleasant Wisconsin arboretum that's worth visiting.
Harmony Gardens Arboretum is located in Marinette County, and it dates back more than three decades. Over the years, the 460-acre property has been transformed into a wonderland that includes natural landscape and cultivated plants. It’s always open, and it’s free.
The property includes an expansive demonstration prairie.
A trail winds through the prairie, and it’s a wonderful place for a walk, especially when the prairie plants are in full bloom.
The arboretum includes numerous raised gardens and paths.
A perennial garden greets you as you enter the plantings. There are also many pretty annuals.
There’s also an herb garden, and it’s huge – it features over 100 varieties of herbs. It's a beautiful and fragrant display.
The vegetable gardens are in raised beds, and there are wheelchair accessible beds.
It’s easy to lose yourself in the beauty of the garden paths.
The property is also home to some hardwood forest and fruit trees - hundreds of acres.
There are plenty of whimsical features for young visitors, too.
A Children’s Learning Garden helps cultivate interest in gardening and nature. Bring your child or grandchild!
I visited this pleasant arboretum during a summer dry spell. The weather had taken a bit of a toll on the plants, but it was still a very pleasant place for an evening stroll.
