Trempealeau, pop. 1,800, is located in Trempealeau County, right next to the Mississippi River. It’s a community with a very old past. Native Americans have called this place home for hundreds of years. European immigrants arrived in the 1800s and established the first Trempealeau Post Office in 1852.
The hotel still retains much of its historic charm, including original woodwork and tin ceilings. It's still a local watering hole, although it also draws a lot of visitors.
But as beautiful as the hotel is, this is no stale local history museum – it’s a lively place that often hosts high quality live entertainment and it draws big outdoor crowds.
