It’s impossible to get an exact list of the best, most-highly rated restaurants across the state, but we sure tried. Combining ratings from Yelp, TripAdvisor, Google and a few “best of” lists, in no particular order, here are 10 places offering the best food Wisconsin has to offer.
1. White Gull Inn - Fish Creek
A historic bed and breakfast that dates back to 1896, White Gull Inn has charm in spades. There's plenty of good food here, but the stuffed french toast has been called the best breakfast in America.

3. Bavette La Boucherie - Milwaukee
It's always a good time to go to Bavette, but make sure you plan to head there on a Wednesday night in the summer months, when Bell creates weekly one-night-only burgers that will change your life. Not only is Bavette a modern take on the old neighborhood butcher shop, but it's owned and operated by a woman, Karen Bell. Breaking stereotypes and walking the walk on sustainability, Bavette offers a daily changing menu of spectacular flavors. The shop also includes a selection of cheeses and wines picked by Bell's sister, a sommelier.
Bavette is located at 430 South 2nd Street
Milwaukee, WI 53204
4. Plae Bistro - Green Bay
Plae stands for "Place to Laugh and Eat" and this place delivers. The kind of fancy comtemporary American dining you'd expect to find out east nestled into a Green Bay neighborhood. The menu keeps health-conscious elements, the plating is superb and the atmosphere is still Wisconsin-chill. Why shouldn't you be able to experience all the great food and none of the pretention?
Plae Bistro is located at 1671 Hoffman Rd, Ste 10
Green Bay, Wisconsin

6. Morel - Milwaukee
The Walker's Point area is awash with new restaurants, but Morel has carved out a loyal following by serving amazing cuts of meat, creating weekly burger specials too amazing to describe, and pulling off the rustic but upscale cabin feel they're going for. Don't let the name fool you - this place isn't vegetarian. Nor are there mushrooms in every dish. But there are hearty, earthy flavors, unusual proteins, and creative desserts. The ham biscuit will change your life. Order two.

Milwaukee, WI 53204
7. Cento - Madison
Farm-to-fork dining isn't surprising anymore, especially in a state with so many amazing resources, but you don't usually see those words combined with Italian. House-made pastas and wood-fired pizzas show the thought and care put into each dish. An extensive wine list to pair with whatever flavors are in season is the topper to this dining experience.

8. Sanford - Milwaukee
Tucked away on Milwaukee's east side, Sanford is a stalwart of the Milwaukee dining scene. But even though your parents might have gone there for an anniversary, Sanford is anything but dated.
