You've heard of Hillbilly Hot Dogs in Lesage, West Virginia. Guy Fieri of the Food Network has. Best of West Virginia has. Travel Channel has. Hasn't everyone? But here's something you may not have heard: Hillbilly Hot Dogs has a wedding chapel. That's right, here at Hillbilly Hotdogs in Lesage, West Virginia, you can tie the knot at what just might be the most unique wedding venue in the whole state.
The "Weddin' Chapel" at Hillbilly Hot Dogs first opened to the public in the spring of 2016.
Sonny (of husband and wife team Sonny and Sharie, Hillbilly Hot Dogs' owners) is an ordained wedding officiant, and their wedding chapel can be reserved for an extremely modest fee (try well under $100) for both wedding ceremonies and vow renewal ceremonies.
Plus, a shindig at this extremely unique wedding venue in West Virginia entitles you to a "Weenie Weddin' Certificate" and a custom, heart shaped ornament, both of which will be hung in the wedding chapel to commemorate your vows for years to come (additional certificates and ornaments are available for purchase so you can also take some memorable mementos home with you!).
The only thing you need to bring? A marriage license from the State of West Virginia.
After your wedding, stop by the main dining room for a meal or the Hillbilly Hot Dogs' Sugar Shack for something sweet.
Ironically (for better or for worse, after all), in addition to getting happily married at Hillbilly Hotdogs (or celebrating the renewal of a happy marriage), you can also order up "The Homewrecker"-- a massive, 15-inch, 16-ounce hot dog piled high with two additional pounds of toppings.
Or there's "The Widowmaker"-- a 30-inch, two-pound weenie with four additional pounds of toppings!
Hillbilly Hotdogs is also a great spot to celebrate a birthday; mention that it's yours and get free ice cream and a special hillbilly birthday serenade. As they say at Hillbilly Hot Dogs, "Yee Haw!"
Did you get hitched (or renew your vows) at the Hillbilly Wedding Chapel? Is your name written somewhere on the Hillbilly Hot Dogs premises (that's another perk of visiting this quirky restaurant!)?
