The oldest section of the building, a brick structure dating back to the early 1800s, is located on the eastern end of the inn. These areas include the kitchen, the dining room, and several rooms on the first and second floors.
The rooms at the inn have a historic feel and design, while also providing modern conveniences. All the rooms, and the hotel in general, are decorated with antiques acquired over a number of years from the Greenbrier Resort and other places in the region.
The newer additions of the building, including the central section and the west wing, were designed in 1928 by Walter Martens, who also designed the governor's mansion in Charleston.
