If you live in West Virginia, you’re already a step ahead of everyone else in the nation. That’s right, citizenship in our state comes with some unique privileges that no one else in the U.S. enjoys. Here are just a few examples:

1. "Country Roads" is about us. Sorry, other 49. You're just not Almost Heaven and you never will be.

2. No one knows where we are. Everyone thinks we're close to Richmond, which means they all wind up somewhere in Virginia and we have the entire state to ourselves to enjoy.

3. When we get to craving pepperoni rolls, we have plenty of options. You might be able to find pepperoni rolls elsewhere in the U.S., but they'll be few and far between unless you're in West Virginia, in which case just about every bakery in the state knows how to whip up a batch!

West Virginia's the only state in the region that falls entirely within the Appalachian Mountains, and our peaks are beautiful and mostly accessible year-round. Here's Blackwater Canyon in winter as proof.
5. The newest national park is right in our backyard. And we've already been enjoying it for years and years and years.

6. West Virginia has the most pizza places per capita in the nation.

There are approximately 1,553 pizza places in the state, which means about one pizza place per every 1,210 people. YUM. We know what we're having for dinner!
7. Our roots run deep. There is no place like home, and that's especially true of West Virginia.

You might be able to transplant a West Virginian to any other state or nation in the world, but they are still West Virginian at heart.
