Coming in as the third best swimming hole in the state, with a silver medal designation, Blue Ridge Country readers picked Blue Hole in Preston County.
This popular swimming spot is located along Big Sandy Creek just above its juncture with the Cheat River not far from Morgantown.
In addition to stunning blue-green water and a beautiful mountain horizon, Blue Hole also boasts a large, sandy beach running right down to the edge of the river, another reason it's such a popular spot to swim!
This top-notch swimming hole in WV isn't just full of peace and quiet, Blue Hole in West Virginia is also aptly named. It doesn't get much better than this!
Listed in second place, with a gold medal award, Blue Ridge Country readers chose Glade Creek in Raleigh County.
We agree; swimming near the old grist mill on Glade Creek in Babcock State Park in West Virginia is definitely a summertime experience that's not to be missed!
Not only does Glade Creek offer stunning views of mountains and the mill, but there's even a series of waterfalls to enjoy all along the creek as you swim.
Add this to the list of the best waterfall swimming holes in West Virginia too!
The view from the top of Seneca Rocks is famous, and rightly so. It's a gorgeous sight on a summer day. So is the view from the base of the rocks looking up at them. But did you know there's a river that's great for swimming at the base of the rocks as well?
Apparently, many of Blue Ridge Country magazine readers knew, because the Seneca Rocks swimming hole was voted the best in the state! That's right, the platinum award for the best swimming hole in West Virginia goes to Seneca Rocks in Pendleton County.
