The Ross Lake National Recreation Area is one of the most scenic spots in the Pacific Northwest. And for most Washingtonians, it’s also one of the hardest to reach. Luckily, Seattle City Light, the public utility company, provides a variety of programs and tours to help familiarize locals with this gorgeous area — and they’re fantastic.

Seattle City Light was created in 1902 to provide affordable, reliable, and environmentally responsible electric power to Seattle and the surrounding areas.

They operate the Skagit River Hydroelectric Project, a series of dams with hydroelectric power-generating stations on the Skagit River.
The Ross Lake Recreation Area includes the magnificent Diablo Lake, a stunning reservoir created by Diablo Dam.

Skagit Tours' most popular tour is the Diablo Lake Boat Tour.
From June through September, you can board the Alice Ross IV for an up-close-and-personal tour of the lake and all its glory.

During the summer months, you can also catch a ride on the Diablo Lake Ferry to the Ross Lake Resort.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the ferry is currently operating for guests who have reservations at Ross Lake Resort. Typically, anyone is free to ride.
City Light also works with local partners to provide access to many of the other outdoor recreational opportunities in the area.
