Here's more on why you'll want to visit the most walkable small town in Virginia.
Welcome to Old Town Alexandria! Situated on a beautiful stretch of the Potomac River, it's one of the most visually stunning small towns in Virginia.
Alexandria is historic, too. It was founded as a port city in 1749. As you walk the cobblestone streets or the one-mile historic King Street, you won't help but notice the historic (and in some cases, downright eclectic) architecture.

This historic town is one of our favorite places for a stroll anytime of year, whether surrounded by spring blooms or fall foliage.
Throughout Old Town, you'll find an impressive collection of small businesses, selling everything from handmade jewelry to homemade pastries.
One of our favorites is Misha's Coffee House. The iced lavender latte is simply to die for.
Old Town is also a very bicycle-friendly area. Rent bikes and pedal away!
Of course, what really sets Alexandria apart is its location on the river. You can take a water taxi to the other riverbank or simply enjoy a waterfront restaurant to soak in the views.
On a beautiful, sunny day, there's hardly a better place to be.
In fact, the Potomac Riverfront was named one of the best river walks in the country!
After a day of seeing Old Town on foot, be sure to stop by one of the many local restaurants for an amazing meal. You'll have earned it!
Some of our favorite restaurants include Daniel O'Connell's Irish Restaurant & Bar, Emmy Squared Pizza, and Mia's Italian Kitchen.
