While the 196,000-acre Shenandoah National Park is certainly a must-visit, there are also 41 state parks in Virginia that are just as glorious. In Virginia Beach, there’s First Landing State Park. It was here that the English colonists first came to America in 1607. You’ll find 10 hiking trails to explore, as well as a Chesapeake Bay beach for boating and swimming. You can also camp within the park. The 800-acre Great Falls Park is located in Mclean. Here you can explore fifteen miles of hiking trails, many leading to awesome sights like Mather Gorge and three different overlooks of the falls.

And from the top, you’ll be able to take in sweeping views of the stunning Blue Ridge Mountains. The trail is 3.4 miles out and back.
