Welcome to Hazel Falls Trail! Located in Shenandoah National Park, not far from the town of Luray, this trail promises quite an adventure.
The trail and namesake waterfall are located within "Hazel Country," which refers to what used to be a very heavily settled land before the park was established.
The trail measures 5.4 miles in total, and the first couple of miles are actually part of an old settler road.
Walking through the woods, you can imagine what life might have been like for those who lived in these beautiful hills and hollows.
You'll find that the trails are well-marked and for the most part, well-maintained. The majority of the trek is easy, but the last 0.3 miles becomes decidedly rockier and steeper.
In addition to the waterfall at the end of the hike, you'll also discover two naturally-formed caves that are fascinating to explore.
No matter your reason for making this trek, you'll agree that it's an adventure you won't soon forget.
