As you walk this unique route, you’ll catch a glimpse at the former route and will even see evidence of the railroad track itself. Here’s more on this abandoned railroad hike in Virginia.
Tucked away in King George County, the Dahlgren Railroad Heritage Trail follows an old railroad route that was built during World War II by the government.
The railroad was ultimately abandoned before it was repurposed into a beautiful walking path in 2006. Thanks to the Friends of the Dahlgren Railroad Heritage Trail, the path is well-maintained and loved.
