Every state has its own personality. A lot of it comes from a mix of geography, history and culture - but mostly its a mix of that crazy characters that make up that place you call home. Virginia is no exception. We've got our fair share of quirks and oddities, but hey, that's what makes us Virginians. So please pass that gravy and be sure to tell my second cousin on my mother's side that I said hello....
22. Gravy is an acceptable condiment for just about anything.
21. You still say, “Yes, Ma’am”, even when the person is younger than you and it annoys them. And you do it because you can picture your mother’s face if you didn’t.
20. You know a ridiculous number of historical facts that you will never use.
19. You know at least 3 ways that venison can be prepared.
18. Your heart stops a little when you think of driving I-95 on a Friday afternoon.
17. While other kids dreamed of what they would be when they grew up, you dreamed of what your first license plate would read.
16. If you can see it, you can monogram it.
15. You’ve heard at least one person use the term “War of Northern Aggression” non-ironically.
14. You know that Virginia is actually a Commonwealth, not a state.
13. And while we’re making confessions, the state flower is actually a tree.
12. Your high school football/basketball/soccer/track team sold Brunswick Stew as a fundraiser.
11. You know the difference between a first cousin, second cousin and first cousin twice-removed. But if you forget, don't worry. Someone in your family will explain it to you at length.
10. When you order a Coke, you don’t necessarily mean Coca-Cola. You just mean brown and carbonated.
9. When you order tea, you actually mean sweet tea.
8. Even if you don’t hunt, you’re related to someone who does.
7. Camouflage is a color. It can be used for shoes, hats, skirts, shirts, pants, purses or furniture. I guess you just never know when you’ll want to be invisible.
6. You are loyal no matter what. And that’s ok, because next year WILL be the Redskins' year.
5. You don’t even mind that the Redskins are actually from Washington, D.C.
4. You’ve been to Williamsburg on at least one school fieldtrip.
3. And the Smithsonian.
2. You have ninja-like reflexes when driving during deer season.
1. You love where you’re from.
Gotta love Virginia - quirks and all. Because, really, at the end of the day, there's nowhere I'd rather call home. What are your favorite things about Virginia that other people just don't get?
