Animals just have a way of making us smile, don't they? Unfortunately, not all animals are treated with the dignity, respect, and love they deserve. Farm animals often have it tougher than others. However, some are lucky enough to escape abuse and neglect, and to find unconditional love at this sprawling farm animal sanctuary in Vermont. You can visit, too, and make new furry friends.
Snuggled on 440 acres flanked by the mountains, Mountain View Farm Animal Sanctuary has provided a safe haven for farm animals since it first opened in 2003.
Rescued farm animals - cows, goats, sheep, and horses - often arrive at the farm in need of a place to heal and to learn to trust humans. Founded by Dr. John Pastore, the sanctuary...
...Offers the animals a loving place to recuperate and to happily live out their lives. It also welcomes visitors to tour the farm and to learn more about its adorable residents.
Visitors must first make an appointment for the tour that will provide insight into what life is like on the farm. After the official tour, you can hang out with the animals.
Meet Emmy the Miniature Sicilian Donkey, for example, whose friendship you can win with some gentle scratches. The goats - Lily, Luke, Leesil, and Julie - hang out with Emmy quite a bit, so you'll meet them too.
Cows Cabot and Remi, Melvin the sheep, and Tux and Buckles the horses are just some of the other animals who call the farm sanctuary home.
A donation of $5 for each adult is requested. Schedule a tour by calling 802-626-9924.
Mountain View Farm Animal Sanctuary also hosts educational programs, and if you're from out of town...
