At just 2.7 miles long, Red Rocks Park Loop Trail is a short-and-sweet hike near South Burlington. It skirts the pristine Lake Champlain, offering a peaceful experience and some of the most incredible views around.
A variety of different landscapes ensure there's always something new and different to look at. Woodland terrain covers much of the trail, with gnarled tree roots unfurling down steep, rugged cliffside ledges. As you trudge ever-deeper into the lush greenery, each step is more enchanting than the last.
Several lookout points boast picturesque vistas of the deep blue lake waters. There's plenty of room for families to spread out and enjoy the scenery—and you'll definitely want to do just that.
Time can easily get away from you on this trail, with the gently rippling current serving as a moving meditation of sorts. Framed on either side by trees that oscillate in the gentle breeze, this view promises to bring tranquility to all who behold it.
Even though the hike is easy, featuring an elevation gain of just over 200 feet, sometimes it's nice to stop and smell the roses regardless. Luckily, benches are located along the trail so you can stretch your legs and enjoy a moment of sweet solitude.
One of the best things about Red Rocks Park Loop Trail is how it changes with the seasons. When fall rolls around, breathtaking foliage engulfs the leaves and renders you awestruck. The ground is covered in a blanket of maroon, amber, and gold, turning the entire landscape into a fairytale.
Frozen lakes might be all too common during the colder months in Vermont, but they never get any less mesmerizing. Icicles hang down from the rocky bluffs, signaling the arrival of winter.
