You Haven’t Lived Until You’ve Experienced This One Incredible Park In Vermont

It is said that every dog has its day, but at Dog Mountain in St. Johnsbury, every day is dog day! This beautiful mountain is dedicated to our favorite friends and is complete with trails, ponds and wide open spaces that are perfect for you and your buddy to get away from it all. With an onsite art gallery and even a dog chapel, this incredible park in Vermont that was rated #1 by USA Today in October 2016 for Best Dog Friendly Tour or Activity in the nation!

Dog Mountain in St. Johnsbury is a 150 acre slice of paradise, especially for those who love their past and present four legged friends.

Here you’ll find acres of scenic trails, trout ponds, dog sculptures an art gallery and of course, the Dog Chapel.

This special place was created by artists Stephen Huneck and Gwen Huneck, who ran the activities here until their deaths.

Dog Mountain was rated #1 by USA Today as the Best Dog Friendly Tour or Activity.

In a place where leashes are discouraged and playing is the name of the game, the dogs who visit would definitely agree.

Stephen Huneck taught himself to carve wood and started carving images of his favorite thing: dogs.

He dreamed of one day building a chapel for dogs in St. Johnsbury.

His dream came true when the Hunecks built their chapel on 150 acres and they hoped it would become a place where dog owners could come to spend time with their pets.

They also hoped that it would be a place where people could mourn for the dogs in their lives that had died and find comfort by leaving notes and remembrances.

The Dog Chapel has become a haven for dog lovers and filled with thousands of notes that people left to pay tribute to their pets.

Stephen built the chapel himself in the style of an 1820s Vermont village church, complete with his own wood carvings of dogs.

This winter Dog Mountian has the cure for Cabin Fever!!

With lots of space to run and play, this is the perfect place to bring your pup for some fresh air.
