Puerto Rico is more than 3,000 miles away from Utah, but you don't have to hop on a plane to enjoy delicious, authentic Puerto Rican food! Visit Papito Moes in Salt Lake City and West Jordan to try some unique flavors you'll fall in love with.
If you've never tried Puerto Rican food, you need to hop in your car and head to Papito Moes right away. This locally-owned gem will introduce you to some tasty new cuisine.
Papito Moes has a food truck and two locations: one in Salt Lake City (shown above), and another in West Jordan.
The vibrant dining room is filled with music, and you'll find warm, friendly staff here, too.
The menu offers authentic, Puerto Rican food made to order. You might want to start with an empanadilla. These fried turnovers are stuffed with savory filling like seasoned chicken breast, ground beef, cheese, and more.
Shown is the carne queso - seasoned ground beef and American cheese.
The other speciality here is the mofongo. It's a Puerto Rican dish made from mashed plantains, plenty of garlic, and pork rinds. They'll serve it up to you alongside your choice of grilled chicken, garlic shrimp, fried pork, or tender roasted pork.
You can also get traditional mofongo by itself, and the restaurant offers vegetarian and vegan versions, too.
For a hand-held meal, order the pernil sandwich. It's made with garlic bread and stuffed with pork and cheese, then pressed so it's toasted. Yum!
Papito Moes also offers authentic beverages to go with your meal. Try a Puerto Rican soda, or juice: passion fruit, tamarindo, or guava mango.
Cap off your meal with a slice of flan de queso.
Both Papito Moes locations are open Tuesday through Saturday. Hours vary, so check the restaurant's website for details.
You'll also want to watch for the food truck to visit your neighborhood! Get curbside takeout, or have your meal delivered.
Check out the Papito Moes website to see the full menu, and make sure to follow the restaurant's Facebook page.
