There is nothing like winter in Utah. Skiing and snowboarding activities often top the list of must-do activities during this time of the year, but today, I want to recommend another incredible winter adventure — snowshoeing at Antelope Island State Park. While there are a handful of parks around the state where you can strap on a pair of snowshoes and explore, this park tops the list. In fact, it may just become your favorite winter day trip in Utah.

When a heavy blanket of snow falls over Utah, there’s no need to stay cooped up indoors. This is actually the perfect time to get outside and explore. While there are countless winter adventures waiting, head to Antelope Island State Park for some of the best snowshoeing in Utah.

During the summer, Antelope Island is home to more than a dozen hiking trails. Fortunately, the adventure doesn’t stop when the Beehive State becomes a winter wonderland as many of these trails become prime snowshoeing destinations.

For example, the Frary Peak Trail is 6.4 miles and can be challenging as you gain more than 2,000 feet in elevation. However, once you reach the top of this trail, the views are mesmerizing and you can capture inspiring views of a frozen Great Salt Lake.

For another beautiful hike that will also leave you inspired, consider tackling the Split Rock Loop trail on snowshoes. This trail can be more than 10 miles long but you can explore just a small section for wintry views.

While Antelope Island State Park has incredible sunset views, during the winter, always make sure to finish your hikes before dark. The ice and trail conditions can become quite dangerous after the sun sets.

If you truly want to enjoy the sunset views, find a location off of the trails where you can sit back and bask in the scenery. It's the perfect way to end the day.
