The festival celebrates all things lilac with parades, live music, concerts, and a 10k run. You can also expect plenty of wine-tastings, horse-drawn carriage rides, and a chance to sample some yummy treats at the concurrent A Taste of Mackinac Food Fest. And, of course, who could miss the crowning of the Lilac Festival Queen & Court.

At the end of the day, it’s all about the flowers. There are thousands of lilacs in bloom all over Mackinac Island and the festival areas are brimming with pots, wreaths, and bouquets of the fragrant blooms. We’d recommend staying at least a night or two in order to participate in all the festivities, but you can also make this festival a day trip if you live nearby.
