This Epic One-Day Road Trip Across Utah Is Full Of Adventures From Sunrise To Sunset
There is nothing better than a good road trip. This is a great way to see many attractions, natural features, and hidden gems. While you may not have multiple days to explore the Beehive State, if you at least have one free day, this trip is for you! This is a single-day road trip that begins at sunrise and ends at sunset. One day, five stops, lots of memories — this is a one-day road trip across Utah you won’t want to miss.
This road trip across Utah requires just over two hours of drive time, so you’ll have plenty of time during the day to enjoy each and every stop. Bring your entire family along or just enjoy the journey on your own — either way, you won’t be disappointed.
Pine Hollow Trail, Alpine Loop
One of the best places to catch a sunrise in Utah is along the Pine Hollow Trail. You’ll want to get up early to enjoy the sunrise as this is a 4.3-mile loop trail. The trail is considered moderate as there are some steep areas but it is scenic every single step of the way. You’ll walk through trees, cross streams, and may even see some wildflowers, in addition to the stunning sunrise views.
Museum of Ancient Life, Thanksgiving Point in Lehi
You’ll spend the morning at one of the most fascinating museums in Utah — the Museum of Ancient Life at Thanksgiving Point in Lehi. This museum claims to have one of the largest collections of full dinosaur skeletons in the entire world and you’ll see the most unique displays and exhibits as you explore. This is one stop the entire family will enjoy.
La Casa Del Tamal, West Valley City
Once hunger strikes, you’ll want to head to Casa Del Tamal, a Mexican restaurant in West Valley City. Here, you’ll find many traditional and favorite Mexican dishes from burritos to enchiladas. However, we recommend you try the tacos and tamales. These are often referred to as some of the best Mexican food in Utah.
Red Butte Garden, Salt Lake City
Nestled in the foothills of Salt Lake City is the next stop on our one-day road across Utah — the Red Butte Garden. This is the largest botanical garden in the Intermountain West and includes 21 acres of gardens and five miles of hiking trails. Spend the afternoon browsing the various themed gardens and try to spot some wildlife. Plus, if you plan your visit just right, you may get to enjoy one of the garden's annual events.
Buffalo Point, Antelope Island
The final stop on our road trip is the Buffalo Point Trail in Antelope Island State Park. This 1-mile out-and-back trail will take you to incredible views of The Great Salt Lake and Antelope Island. You may even be able to spot the bison, antelope, and deer that call this island home. This is truly the perfect way to end a fun-filled day.
