Isle au Haut in Maine is a remote island town known for its unspoiled beauty and unique coastal inns.

While some are well known and a mecca for tourism, others prefer to fly under the radar, keeping their beauty unspoiled by too many visitors. This small town in Knox County, Maine, boasts a permanent population of under 100 people and is one that's truly heaven on earth:
Isle Au Haut is located five miles south of Stonington, Maine, and is accessible by a 45-minute boat ride.
The Isle au Haut Lighthouse and The Keeper's Inn are usually one of the first sights visitors see when approaching the island. The Inn is considered one of the most unique coastal inns found anywhere.
Isle au Haut is a remote outpost of Acadia National Park.
It was first discovered by Europeans in 1604. Half the island is in park ownership; the balance consists of the community of Isle au Haut. The island encompasses about 5,400 acres.
The town hosts about 7,000 visitors and 600 campers annually.
