The Hidden Spot In The U.S. You Didn’t Know Existed
Explore the magical Bamboo Forest and Waimoku Falls on the Pipiwai Trail in Haleakalā National Park, Maui.
Perhaps one of the greatest aspects of living in America is the treasure trove of natural attractions just waiting to be discovered. For a prime example of this, we'll take a trip to the island of Maui and venture into the magical Haleakala National Park, where a bamboo wonderland awaits us. Aptly named, the Bamboo Forest offers gorgeous greenery, plenty of bamboo, and just a touch of magic.
Take a look at the photos below and see if you aren't convinced to venture to the island:
With its rugged trails, volcanic landscape, and coastal beauty, Haleakalā National Park is a breathtaking natural wonder on the Hawaiian island of Maui.
It's perhaps unsurprising that a hidden destination awaits inside these magnificent forests. Among residents, this hike is one of the most beloved on the whole island.
At Mile Marker 41 along the Hana Highway, you'll find the beginnings to the magical Pipiwai Trail.
Along this gorgeous 2-mile trail, hikers can expect to encounter scenic cascades, a gorgeous waterfall, and the most unusual attraction of all, a seemingly endless bamboo forest.
Before entering the forest, hikers will cross a bridge overlooking some of the beautiful cascading pools. Take time to admire the sound of the gentle fresh water as it moves from one beautiful pool to the next.
Quickly after, the landscape gives way to a world of bamboo. Enter the forest and you'll feel as though you've traveled to an entirely new landscape.
Despite being such an attractive part of the island, bamboo is actually considered to be an invasive species. Its prolific growth threatens one of the last natural rainforests in Hawaii.
Yet the draw to enter this bamboo world is nearly magnetic. Listen closely and you'll hear the sound of the stalks gently knocking against each other.
Eventually, the trail clears and gives way to the one final spectacular site: Waimoku Falls.
The waterfall is an impressive 400-feet tall and makes a wonderful rushing sound as you draw close.
With its breathtaking attractions, this trail is a must-see for natural lovers and explorers alike.
