What could be better than a visit to a friendly small town in Texas in the springtime? If sunny skies, wildflowers springing up all over the country landscapes, live music, great food, and delightful Texas wine conjure up visions of a good time, you couldn't be more right!
The small town of Granbury, Texas, located in the Dallas - Fort Worth Metroplex, attracts visitors from all over the U.S. who fall in love with the small town's appeal and its blend of history, culture, hospitality, and shopping. The city hosts frequent events and entertainment throughout the year, either near its beautiful lake or around the downtown historic Granbury Square. But it is the successful and Granbury Wine Festival, planned for April 26-28, that is becoming known as one of the best wine festivals in the country. Here's why you will want to sip and savor this successful event:
Granbury, Texas, has a population of less than 10,000 and is located about 35 miles west of Fort Worth.
The town is popular for its historic downtown and quaint shops. Granbury also surrounds a beautiful lake area, which adds to town's appeal for its outstanding fishing, boating, and hiking spots.
The historic Hood County Courthouse was built in 1890.
It is actually the third courthouse at this site, with the first two having burned down. The magnificent three-story courthouse has been renovated and is considered by many as one of the most beautiful designs in the country.
The annual Granbury Wine Walk takes places around the historic town square and area grounds.
The 9th annual event takes place April 26-28 and continues to grow and improve each year, organizers say. Part of the attractionl is being able to stroll through the beautiful areas and not just having to stay in one place for tastings.
The event kicks off on April 26 with a VIP Sip and Savor event.
Ticketholders are treated to appetizers and live Jazz music at a private venue area. Participants get to enjoy both classic and contemporary cuisine pairings with Texas wines, featuring dishes from North Texas’ most talented chefs.
The Wine Walk takes place on April 27 and 28.
Wine walkers are treated to live music and art while strolling through the outdoor clusters of booths, located throughout downtown. Hours for the Wine Walk are 2:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Friday and 11:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Saturday.
Booths offers much more than wine, although they are certainly a highlight!
VIsitors come for the ambiance, art displays, craft sales, and family-friendly activities as well.
More than two dozen Texas wineries are on hand to provide tastings and promote the growing Texas wine industry.
Shops downtown also welcome wine walkers throughout the weekend.
Food is one of the highlights of the two-day wine walk.
In addition to the local restaurants offering special festival fare, food vendors and trucks will be in full swing.
Evening brings out more music, food, and wine.
While the Wine Walk closes in early evening, guests can find plenty of additional activities at night, which include relaxing to live music and perhaps even dancing under the stars. Of course, food and drink options will still abound!
