Founded just over a year after Texas gained independence from Mexico, Seguin is one of the most historic towns in the state. It's named after Juan Seguin, a Texas army captain.
Seguin's town square is peppered with historic buildings that have stood the test of time. From charming little cafes to antique shops and everything in between, these local relics will transport you back to yesteryear.
As you're touring downtown, don't miss Seguin's biggest claim to fame: the world's largest pecan. No, it isn't a real pecan, but at five feet long and nearly 1,000 pounds, the statue is undeniably impressive.

Sebastopol House Historic Site, a Greek Revival house constructed in 1856.

Now, we know this is a day trip article, but we'd be remiss not to mention the iconic Magnolia Hotel, which is considered to be one of the most haunted hotels in Texas. It was built in 1840 and has been featured on such popular shows as "Ghost Adventures" and "Paranormal Caught on Camera."
You don't have to spend the night - guided ghost tours are offered on a regular basis...if you're brave enough, that is.
