Recently, the website House Beautiful named the 60 most charming towns in the country, and the little town of Cottage Grove, Oregon was number two on the list! It's certainly not hard to see how this town got its ranking. Check it out:
You'll find the quaint town of Cottage Grove just 20 miles south of Eugene. The town is home to around 10,000 people, which means that it's large enough to have plenty of amenities, but small enough that it still has that hometown feel.
The town was founded in 1855, and you can see several historic homes here even today.
The bustling downtown area is home to many locally-owned businesses. Take a stroll to visit the shops and cafes.
Buster's Main Street Cafe is the place for a tasty breakfast. It's located at 811 E. Main Street.
Fuel up for a day of adventure here; the menu is full of hearty breakfast food like pancakes, waffles, eggs Benedict, and home fries.
Cottage Grove is the Covered Bridge Capital of the West, and you'll see why when you visit. This is Centennial Bridge...
...and it's just one of the six bridges in and around town. The Currin Covered Bridge was built in 1925, and it's another pretty bridge that's particularly photogenic.
The Chambers Covered Railroad Bridge is the last of its kind west of the Mississippi River.
The bridge was restored in 2011, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Take the town's Covered Bridges Scenic Bikeway to see all the bridges!
You'll also want to pay a visit to Saginaw Vineyard, where you'll find a lovely, rural setting and some award-winning wines.
Saginaw Vineyard is located at 80247 Delight Valley School Road in Cottaqe Grove.
Lace up your hiking boots and head east of town to find Dorena Lake and the Row River Trail.
There are plenty of outdoor exploration opportunities everywhere you look here!
