I took the Only In Your State AI-Travel Planner tool for a test run to see what suggestions it would give for a summer family weekend getaway to Tulsa. See the results.
What would you do on a family-friendly weekend getaway in Tulsa in August? Where would you stay? How about dining options? Do these questions seem overwhelming to you? I took the Only In Your State AI-Travel Planner tool for a test run to see what suggestions it would give for a summer family weekend getaway to Tulsa — and to relieve some of the overwhelm I often feel when planning a trip. The results? Well, that's what I'm about to share with you, as well as my opinion on the tool's functionality.
How To Use The AI-Travel Planner
I love technology, especially when it's easy to use, and this AI tool is just that. With a series of prompts like location, how long of a trip, who you're traveling with, what month you're traveling, and your interests, it comes up with a customized itinerary based on those factors. Here are the results it gave me for a family weekend getaway in August in Tulsa, OK:
What To Do
I was pleasantly surprised by what the AI tool chose for places to visit in Tulsa. One is Paradise Beach Water Park (formerly known as Safari Joe’s H20 Water Park), a place my 8- and 15-year-olds would both enjoy. They love water parks, and I know this is popular among locals and visitors alike. And while you won't see me on the waterslides with my kids, you can absolutely find me floating on the lazy river for hours.
While my son isn't so much into art, my daughter and I are, so spending a few hours at the Philbrook Museum of Art is a welcome activity. The museum's building is a gorgeous piece of architecture surrounded by lush gardens. As our itinerary is for a weekend in the month of August, I can only imagine how beautiful the gardens will be in full bloom.
Where To Eat
As for dining options, the Travel Planner chose two: The French Hen, a fine dining restaurant, and Villa Ravenna, an Italian eatery. After checking the menus of the French Hen, I think my kids could absolutely find something to eat here. While it's French-inspired cuisine, there are items like a USDA prime burger, steak and frites, and grilled cheese and soup that they could order. And then there's dessert, which is a must!
As for Villa Ravenna, we all love Italian food, so finding a delicious dish for dinner will be no problem. Perhaps we will start with an Insalata, order pasta, eggplant parmigiana (my favorite), and shrimp scampi, and end the meal with something sweet.
Where To Stay
I really like the two hotels that were chosen for my weekend itinerary in Tulsa. While these options are wildly different from each other, they are solid. The first option, the Hyatt Regency Tulsa Downtown, is conveniently located within walking distance to restaurants and has an outdoor pool and on-site dining. The second chosen option is the Cedar Rock Inn, a charming bed and breakfast set in a historic home that was built in 1890 and set on a 45-acre farm in the foothills of West Tulsa. With trails and a pond on the property, plus a three-course breakfast and fresh-baked cookies daily, I think we would love staying here.
My Final Thoughts
Overall, I thought that the AI-Travel Planner put together a solid itinerary for exploring Tulsa with family over a summer weekend. Not only that, but it's incredibly easy to use, and I see how it can take the stress out of travel planning. I would absolutely use it again.
