The Lake Erie Coastal Ohio Scenic Byway offers a picturesque drive along northern Ohio’s coast, featuring charming towns, beaches, and historical landmarks.
There's nothing like a scenic drive to help you seize the day, live spontaneously and get some fresh air. Here in Ohio, we have several scenic byways and countryside roads that are perfect for a lazy Sunday or weekend adventure. The Lake Erie Coastal Ohio Scenic Byway, also known as the Lake Erie Coastal Ohio Trail, is the perfect way to take in the beauty of northern Ohio's coast. This is one scenic drive you won't want to pass up.
Stretching a total of 293 miles long, the Lake Erie Coastal Ohio Trail takes you from the big city of Toledo to the small town of Conneaut.
Much of the route follows U.S. Highway 50 and State Route 531.
Along this scenic drive, you'll pass through charming coastal towns, beaches, state parks and even vacation islands.

You'll also pass several landmarks, lighthouses and other historical places of interest that Ohio history buffs will appreciate.
Bring your camera and make a note of which lighthouses you'd like to stop and see.
One stop we highly recommend making is Headlands Beach State Park in Mentor. It features a short boardwalk trail, swimming beach and incredible views.
It's the perfect place to get out and stretch your legs!
