You Could Spend Forever Exploring This North Dakota Small Town, But We’ll Settle For A Weekend

North Dakota is home to several awesome small towns, cities, and other delights - it's actually a wonderful place to visit, despite the fact that it's literally the least-visited state in the United States. Well, I feel like that's pretty lame - after all, there's a lot to love around here. For example, let's check out one of the cutest towns we have: Jamestown. Come out and see why it's one of the best towns in North Dakota, through and through. With all the things to do in Jamestown, North Dakota, I think you'll love it as much as I do!

Jamestown, North Dakota is a gorgeous little town in Stutsman County.

It was founded in 1883, and it's here that you'll find the University of Jamestown... and lots of other interesting places.

It's an excellent destination for a day trip - or a whole weekend!

I have a few recommendations, though, if you don't mind - some of my favorite places in town, that is. Take for example the gorgeous Saint James Basilica, which is on 1st Avenue South, and it's absolutely jaw-dropping. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.

The Frontier Village at Jamestown is another fun spot to check out.

It's a fun trip back in time to North Dakota's olden days, which were quite a bit more interesting than you might think (as with most old frontier towns). There's enough to do here that you could probably make it a day trip in and of itself!

Of course, while you're in Jamestown, you can't resist a visit to the North American Bison Discovery Center. The museum is a fascinating study in the American buffalo, it's significance and importance in North America history and culture.

Jamestown is wonderful for folks who appreciate the great outdoors, too.

The Jamestown Dam is excellent for fishing, and it serves to create a reservoir for the town and nearby townships, too. Its primary purpose is flood control, but that doesn't mean North Dakotans don't have a good time with it.

There's also the Pipestem Dam, and Meidinger Park is an excellent option for those with kids who prefer a playground.

Jamestown is a small town by most state standards - but for us, it's almost a city! That's how we like it, and we can't get enough of its wonders - no matter how many times we revisit it.

While in town, you'll find plenty of nearby hotels and beds and breakfasts - though they do book up fast, so I strongly suggest booking in advance.
