We Dare You To Take This Road Trip To New Orleans’ Most Abandoned Places
New Orleans has several major abandoned buildings that remain empty since Hurricane Katrina, awaiting development.
New Orleans has never been a stranger to abandoned buildings, but since Hurricane Katrina, there have been more major landmark buildings empty than usual. Although huge strides have been made addressing the blight problem, there are still some major buildings that sit empty, waiting for development. Here are some of the biggest and most striking in the city.

1. Six Flags, 3011 Michoud Blvd
This abandoned amusement park is quite a sight and a great way to kick off this road trip.
2. Lindy Boggs Medical Center, Bienville & Jeff Davis
This medical center has been empty since Katrina and is still sitting at the end of Bayou St. John in Mid city.
3. Market St. Power Plant, Convention Center Blvd.
Even though a developer purchased this riverfront property a while ago, it is still sitting there waiting for something...
4. Charity Hospital, 1532 Tulane Ave.
So much controversy has surrounded this building but as of today it is still empty.
5. New Orleans Adolescent Hospital, 210 State ST.
This Uptown former mental hospital now sits empty across from Children's hospital near Audubon Park and Zoo.
